Once Upon A Time on Road

While driving back home today, I saw a car stopped on the roadside. Nothing unusual. Except that the halt happened directly under the traffic sign “no stopping, no standing”. “We’re humans” I thought. Is that enough justification? Was the car driver right in doing so? Should he be fined? Is anarchy the best? Is democracy failing? I have a lot of questions.

After witnessing this rebellious act, I stopped at the next traffic light point and wondered if other people have similar thought process. A lot can get you cancelled today, or get you popular, or both or none. But like in 3 Idiots, they focused on paneer, I decided to focus on this idea that I’m as significant as that traffic sign board. Life will go on for everyone, whether I am there or not. So why not shoot the shot and write whatever comes to my mind. Write whatever comes to my mind and send it across the internet. See if I can stir up conversations about these ideas that I cannot bring up at family dinners, dates, work lunches.
I’m largely uninformed. And it is not being said out of glamourous humbleness. I don’t read the newspaper. I’ve tried many things. Nothing works. Reading about what is happening around me makes me anxious. Makes me feel responsible about matters I feel inadequately resourced about. Makes me angry at strangers. Make me question if the stories are half-baked propaganda. Makes me realize how little I know about how the world works, what’s the history of everything, what are the predictions for the future. I feel uninformed and inadequate.
Still, I will write. I have the resources. And I have access to the internet. Privileged, I shall speak and you shall think about this. You think, you write back and let’s discuss. About anything and everything.
I might learn a thing or two from this.
Best,
